The goal is to incorporate #19, #20, #21 and #22 into the 'accelerated` branch. These changes are now only part of the master branch.

Hi Hanno — I really encourage you to rebase your accelerated branch against master rather than merge this!

Thanks. I guess you're right. That would be way more elegant. I have no experience with rebasing, but I can dive into it.
