Error - BackgroundGeolocation requires requestAlwaysAuthorization! #113

You mean in the app settings in iOS right? Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> My App -> Checkmark is next to Always.

The location prompt was also correct - Allow "My App" to access your location even when you are not using the app?" I tapped Allow.

Are you using cordova-plugin-Geolocation as well?

Have done that about 10 times along with clean iOS builds and resetting all plugins with ionic state reset...

It's not a problem with the plugin, more likely something in your configuration/app code.

If you install my sample app, I'm sure you won't have a problem.

I haven't touched this part of the code in months. If there were a problem, I'd be flooded with hundreds of complaints.

There isn't any specific setting I need to add in the plist or xcode project right...?

You have both WhenInUse and AlwaysDescription defined and WhenInUse is empty. Delete the WhenInUse key.

Upgraded - same thing - works in simulator. Does not work on device.... but now no error. I guess broken device...?

One note - from the device I get one location callback as soon as I turn it on... just not future ones.

On my phone in settings there is even the purple arrow next to Always showing it is using location.... the updates just don't get sent through it seems :(

I don't see that location callback in the XCode logs. if you have a new log, show it.

It isn't outputting it for some reason... even though everything works in the simulator. There must be a bug...

Turns out yes debug was set to false in the config. Unbelievably I fixed it by restarting the phone. I went to drive somewhere and Waze couldn't get GPS either... I've never seen that before on an iPhone... I think everything was working even with the "BackgroundGeolocation requires requestAlwaysAuthorization!" error the problem was just the phone was in a messed up state.

I guess add restart phone to uninstall/reinstall app on the troubleshooting list...
