My build is successful as well, it’s when we try and run the app it fails.

Very weird, when I remove react-native-background-geolocation
with no other changes the app builds and runs fine, must be some conflict between react-native-background-geolocation
and some other package in our app. Unfortunately this is a very hard bug to squash.

This is not unusual when using other modules that import play-services / Firebase. Conflicts happen all the time.

You are warned to provide the googlePlayServicesVersion
variable in the plugin's Android Setup Docs
Thanks for the recommendation, I will try this and let you know.
Since you were not providing that variable, which background-geolocation is aware of, the plugin was defaulting to version11.8.0
, while you were explicitly importing 15.0.1
, resulting in dependency collision.
