ubuntu repo? #1187

Hello. Is there a repo for this branch of transgui for ubuntu? Install transgui from the default repos results in the old yuri_sidorov version on SourceForge.

I can certainly install it manually, but if there is a repo, that would be great.

Maybe to have a PPA repository would be easier at the beginning, as we don't have Debian package scripts here yet.

Contributions are welcome.

There is some PPA mentioned in #1241. Didn't test it myself though.

PeterDaveHello commented 4 years ago

@anoteng are you the owner of the PPA?

anoteng commented 4 years ago

Yea, but i haven't maintained it. The current package in Ubuntu and Debian is this version, not the old one from Sidorov. If you are getting the old one in Ubuntu you must be using an old ubuntu release. I can build for older versions of ubuntu in the ppa if you need it, don't have a computer at hand right now so it'll have to wait a few days.

PeterDaveHello commented 4 years ago

@anoteng cool, it'll be even better if you'd like to help contribute those build process back into this repository when you have time :D

anoteng commented 4 years ago

IMHO it is better to keep the packaging separate from the upstream source. There's a git repo for the packaging here: https://salsa.debian.org/anoteng-guest/transgui I could start keeping the ppa updated, and you could link to the ppa from the project.

@anoteng actually I'd like to to have 1) deb package in the release page 2) ppa repository, but if your ppa repository will automatically build the packages, we can also have a link to it!

If you want to help us build an official one, I can also create a new repository in our GitHub organization and invite you to join us ;)
