The Hammer has various ad-hoc stats and measurements about what's going on with the target log, but this could probably do with a bit of a more holistic rethink about how it's all plumbed together.

Hopefully #125 makes the backbone of the plumbing clearer. Resolving this for now as I think it has been refactored to approximately the right shape.
