Square brackets in text entry #12

Square brackets are currently used to mark up where the gaps are so they can't be used in the body text for other reasons. Could just use a different kind of marker -- braces are probably used less often. Suggestions?

I need to put code in my questions, so both square brackets and curly braces are overloaded for me. Maybe backticks ``?

Hm, backticks can be used in code too. It needs a better permanent solution but if backticks work for you go ahead and patch your own copy.
