is_combining_character() no longer works correctly with the latest {Unicode} release due to a change in behavior in Unicode::u_char_property() for unknown Unicode code points (now returns NA)
This is causing a CRAN ERROR in {hexfont}: https://github.com/trevorld/hexfont/issues/7
