Mining to included "example" .bat by accident????? #288

Last night I was really tired and clicked the wrong .bat. Apparently this is a real address and I just mined all night into some random person's account?? This seems really shady. Is there a way to get my earnings back?

Placing a real address there for beginner dumbasses like me to make a mistake on is kind of a low blow.

We had absolutely no intention to deceive people to mine to the wrong address. The address is random person's address and it has no relation to us, developers. A couple of reasons why we put a real address:

  1. Users have a convenient way of benchmarking new algorithms, check mining pool connectivity, checking out what the UI of the miner is and so on - that's all very useful for beginners.
  2. When a user complains about "No connection" errors, getting invalid shares etc., we ask them to run one of the vanilla mining-ready batch files to make sure the miner is working with pre-defined settings and that helps with troubleshooting.

I'm really sorry about what happened in your case.

Ok I apologise for assuming it was a developer address, lol, but maybe a warning or something would be useful. I do realise it was my fault but I have several .bat files on different machines and I totally forgot I had copied one instead of overwriting it.
