T-rex miner just keeps randomly stopping

Im running T-Rex Rev v0.21.6 on a new computer. GPU is RTX 3070ti. When i first started everything worked fine and miner would mine for hours until i turned it off. But now it seems sporadically it just stops. I saw a warning up towards the top when I started the miner that said T-rex had a problem with GPU, terminating.... But it ran for say 27 min when I now noticed another warning saying Apiserver: request took to long, 211.28.8ms for /summary? last-stat-ts 1631384382. I dont know what any of this means but it stopping makes no sense. All was fine when I started. I did not overclock my GPU and all equipment is only a month old. It mined for 44 min right now and says T-Rex has a problem with Gpu , terminating... But then it says Watchdog; Recovering T-rex. I cut and pasted both instances of this for reference. This issue is making no sense to me because it use to mine for hours no problem. No sometimes it mines for hour and sometimes few min before it gives me the ol press any key to continue and stops. (NOTE; I know a limited amount about computers, but know enough to test and benchmark all hardware and all passes with great numbers)

What is your GPU Memory Junction Temperature getting to?

Never mind, just saw it was 75 for the core and 94 for the memory. I would be inclined to use --fan tm:90 but that's just me.

How do i do that. Sorry Im new to all this but learning fast. What will the --fan tm:90 do. This issue really makes no sense. This is a 2 month old build and all was working fine I think till around update time. It would mine hours straight. Not now maybe 1.5 hrs

I have no idea what that error means or the reason for it. Do you have anything else controlling the GPU fans? What is your actual command line?

Actually, the better setting would be --fan tm:90[60-100]

The setting will cause the fans to aim for a GPU Memory temperature of 90 degrees, with a minimum fan speed of 60 and a max of 100. The reason you want to set the fan min/max is because some cards will spin down to zero if GPU core temp is below a certain value, but GPU Core temp is less important than GPU Memory temp when mining. If you don't set the min fan speed then it can cause temperature spikes if the fans spin down and need to then spin back up again.

I only have 3090, 2060, 1070 cards so none are LHR so I don't know if that has anything to do with it (but I doubt it does).

This is all I have -dag-build-mode 2 --coin eth --gpu-report-interval 20 --keep-gpu-busy I am only running a RTX 3070ti right now. I do have software that came with the computer NZXT Cam which has settings for fan to which i keep on Performance. The fans go up or down depending on the settings. According to that software my CPU is 50 think celsius, GPU is 78 which coincides with what Trex is reporting T:78/90C (what does the C represent) ya after I sent message i looked up what --fan .... controls. Maybe Ill shut down the Cam software and see if all what GPU cant adjust auto fan goes away. I tend to wonder if its not that is it in the bios. Ill try your setting right now and shut CAM down

I don't think the NZXT CAM software will be the cause, I believe that will be for the CPU AIO water cooler. I have an NZXT AIO CPU cooler and have that software running. Probably best to leave it running.

The temperature "C" is for Celsius. That GPU core temperature seems fairly high if you're only mining using the GPU. To put things into perspective, my 3090 runs at 55/90C (55C for the core, 90C for the Memory) and my fans run at 76%.

Having said that, I have changed the thermal pads and re-pasted the GPU on the cards so the memory can run cooler.

If you think the GPU core temp is causing the crashes, just lower the --fan tm:90 to 85 or so and your fans will run faster and keep both cooler.

The temp probably goes up because Im Playing a video game while mining. I will point out though that the issue of it stopping and restarting has zero to do with that as it did it before. Funny thing, I dont notice the fan speed really changing at all. Only time it changes is when I lower it in the NZXT otherwise it is pretty consistent.

Which leaves me to believe CAM interferes with the Miner code. Now I will note. The miner was running it didnt show the warning when CAM Started. I waited 5 min, shut down miner with CAM on and soon as I restarted it it gave that warning.

Ah ok, if you're playing video games then yes, the GPU core will definitely heat up from that.

Regarding NZXT, I wonder if your machine has a NZXT GPU cooler (rather than CPU cooler) so that might explain why it causes conflicts. You might be better off seeing if you can change the fan speed settings within NZXT (to run faster at lower temps - because it probably works off gpu core rather than gpu memory) rather than use the --fan trex settings. Otherwise, when you exit the miner I don't know how the NZXT gpu cooler will work.

You could have a look at your 2miners website to see if it's reporting hashes from running it, to see if it's now working properly.

Also, consider using --log-path logs\trex.txt so you can look at the temp history for when it fails.

Without knowing how what machine components and setup you're using, everything is kind of hypothetical. If you are using a NZXT GPU cooler though, I would probably set a "Custom" fan curve wtihin NZXT and adjust the graph line so the fans start working harder at a lower GPU temp. It's not the best solution because they're not basing their speed off the mem temp, but it's better than having nothing. Just monitor the trex logs to see how high the mem temp gets and then make adjustments.

No, I built the Machine. The Case is the NZXT H510i, It had two stock fans Top and Back of case. Other than that I got the Kracken X63 AIO. There is no other cooling going on. Ok its not the Cam I had to run trex as admin for not give warning. But Tell me where it says Memory Left below. o.oo is that norm on startup.

Maybe the memory left is the issue, I don't know enough about it. My memory left on my 2060 shows 2.57GB, 1070s both show 2.63GB, and my 3090s show 18.34GB. I use my 3090s for gaming so won't be running out while I mine.

With Respect to the Memory issue you mentioned is it talking about video card Memory or Ram. I would think with just video came and Miner the Video card could handle it. RTX 3070 ti has what 8Gb Of memory. I also set up the txt log as you mentioned. With No game running its alot cooler [T:68/90C, P:194W, F:68%, E:188kH/W], 10/10 R:0%

Then after I started the game this. It looks like its mining but at also it says GPU idle.

In relation to the memory question, I expect that's the GPU's memory not the PC memory (they are both RAM). But I believe you should be seeing a specific memory error. I have seen people occasionally have virtual memory issues (PC memory) whereby increasing it has helped but I don't know if that will help in your scenario. Might be worth trying.

So I was looking at the Miner this morning seeing when it stopped and restarted. Its Every Hour. Soon as 1 hour and about 3 min comes around it restarts. I left it on last night so this morning I was scrolling the data and ya every hour poof restart. I have run Mem test on my computer its fine. I have looked at the mem on gpu as well its fine. Ill show you temps when it restart really low so its not temps. I am baffled. Cant be network issue on my end. My Alienware laptop runs all day and night just fine with RTX 2080. I also wonder what this Shares/Min is and why its zero for so long

Mine always seems to have something in shares/min, so maybe zero is showing that it's not doing anything. Does your mining pool show that you're generating hashes? Is your antivirus / firewall reporting any issues etc? This might be more suited to a reddit forum, I'm out of ideas.

But what i was wondering is there a way for it to generate a log everytime it shuts down on its own. I have it set up to restart automatically when it crashes. Id like to see whats going on each time it crashes or restarts on its own.

Every time you restart trex it renames the prior log file. So the current log file is always trex.txt (or whatever you called it), and it renamed the old trex.txt file to something like:

trex-[1628153496].txt

So if you have a look in your logs directory you should see the others.

Yes so very true with one hitch. I see those if i just start t-rex normally. But remember in order for the Autofan no to report errors, I have to run t-rex as admin. And sure enough when i do it does not send a txt. I just tried both ways. regular way does send the txt when it restarts, but not if you run as admin

Sorry, can't help on that one. I always run mine as Admin. If you find that you're forgetting to run it as admin all the time then just create shortcut for it on your desktop. E.g. In Windows Explorer, right click on your ETH-2miners.bat file (assuming that's what you're using) and select Create Shortcut. Then drag (or cut'n'paste') the newly created shortcut file onto your windows desktop. Then, right click the desktop shortcut -> Properties -> Advanced Button -> Click "Run as administrator". Then just double-click that icon every time you want to run the miner.

Wait if you always run yours as administrator and it gives you the txt file why would mine not. I tried it. I started it normal just clicking batch file and shutting down 3 times and each time it gave me the txt file in LOG. But if i right clicked and ran as admin no txt file was generated. Fishy eh. I didn't have a problem with your bat file settings (even tried a similar directory name, although still on C not D drive). It also created the log files with no problems running it as Admin. So I have no idea what the problem is on your PC. I did this with 0.22.1.

Ha Patience. So I kept researching and finally I got to the root of it all. The second number in Temp is Vram. It can work up to like 106, on RTX but they say best to get new/better thermal Pads. But I put back the lhr-tune 4 and tweaked the settings using afterburner and WOW not only did hash go up power consumption went down but so did the temps alot.
