I guess with "remove" you mean prioritize the alien mammal checklist for inclusion in GRIIS? Or do you really want to remove those records from the ad hoc?
Wrt Ovis ammon: there are only 2 records for Belgium in the walloon RIPARIAS dataset for early alert (around Lière), they originate from the walloon government recording site OFFH and they are unvalidated. My guess is that they actually meant mouflon (ammon is often mistakenly used for mouflon), which is another species (mouflon is mapped on gbif as Ovis gmelinii subsp. musimon (Pallas, 1811)
). So probably Ovis ammon is a mistake and it should be O. gmelinii.
need to check which one is on the mammal checklist
With remove I mean: remove those records from the ad hoc checklist. We did the same for the herpetofauna. I doesn't really make sense to keep the mammals in the ad hoc checklist if there's another checklist specifically addressed to mammals. We do need to check if the information in both lists is the same.
At this point, Ovis gmelinii subsp. musimon (Pallas, 1811)
is not included in the alien mammals checklist nor in the ad-hoc checklist.
OK, clear, good! I have sent an mail to some people that I put on the authorship of the metadata to do a check and validate the records for the mammal checklist.
adapted the name for mouflon
The ad-hoc checklist now includes information about alien mammals. However, we have a separate checklist for that, i.e. the Checklist of Alien Mammals in Belgium. When I compare the information about mammals in the ad-hoc checklist vs. the alien mammals checklist, I find that most species from the former are covered by the latter, only one species are lacking in the alien mammals checklist:
Ovis ammon (Linnaeus, 1758)
. Two questions:1: Should we remove all mammals from the ad hoc 2: Should we add
Ovis ammon
to the alien mammal checklist?
