In some cases, it is helpful to have a historical record of affiliations, which allows users to see past affiliates of other users. It is possible to store this in a user's bio as free text, but more structured data may allow additional uses.
In the case where an organization has no active representatives within a trust group, it may be useful to see past affiliated members and reach out to those in order to find current contact information of trusted individuals still within an organization.
This feature could also be used to provide vouching "hints", by sending custom messages to others who have worked for the same company. For example if a new member is nominated with an affiliation "Company X" then the system should email others who currently are affiliated with "Company X" (subject to trust group "same org" rules) or were previously associated with "Company X".
I like this, note it will require a change to how we track affiliations, also note that it is a free-form field so that it won't be deterministic, but still worth a ponder.
