pentoo-installer errors on 'Copy the distribution' #273

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Follow pentoo-installer instructions:
https://code.google.com/p/pentoo/wiki/PentooInstaller
2. Run pentoo-installer > Set Clock > Prepare the hard drive > (2) Copy the
Distribution
3. F8 logging shows nothing. You need to look on the F1 installer console to
see errors:

The first error is very quick and seems to be an 'rsync' error.

If you run it again (as many times as you like) then you see the error:

`/usr/sbin/pentoo-installer erro line 857: [: -ne unary operator expected`

These errors show very quickly over the top of the 'Pentoo Installer' menu and
progress bar.

If you run the 'choose profile' menu item after this then you get:

"!!! Error: get_repos failed"
"!!! Error: Failed to get a list of valid profiles"

Install media are both i686 and amd64 hardened and with the digest checked:
pentoo-amd64-hardened-2014.0_RC2.1.iso 16-Mar-2014 05:42 2.4G
pentoo-i686-hardened-2014.0_RC2.1.iso 16-Mar-2014 05:57 2.1G

yeah, the installer is broken in this cut. You should sync the laymen and
upgrade to the latest pentoo-installer. I think it's already fixed

11:47 grimmlin@: gyaresu: could you try something for me plz ?
11:48 grimmlin@: gyaresu: if you edit the script before running it,
please change the sleep value at line 861 to 2 or 3 and retry the install
11:49 grimmlin@: there might be some bash latencies if your system is
under very high load
11:50 grimmlin@: this might break the c variable as the $value command
hasn't completed in one second
11:54 gyaresu : grimmlin, Acknowledged. Doing...
11:57 grimmlin@: thx
12:29 gyaresu : grimmlin, I changed it to '3' and still explodes. (my
limited bash skills wondered if there weren't meant to be more vairables in
quotes "$c")
12:30 gyaresu : grimmlin, rsync writed unbuffered failed... <- quick
list of stuff I can see. It flashes up for such a short time though.

so many fixes, all in 9999 ebuild. there will be a versioned release for the
