The igniter for Intrepid presents a unique challenge. To launch a Q-class motor, we need to be ~1 mile away from the launch site. It is impractical to ignite the rocket using conventional methods; namely, we cannot run a cable from the launch site to mission control. The solution is going to be a wirelessly triggered system.

This challenge will be solved with support from Launch Ops and Avionics.

Ignition will be triggered with a hot wire and a small solid rocket motor.
