Ubuntu 22.04 Freezes #366

Thanks for providing this nice app. So far it is working fine running on MacOS.

Now I was trying to use it as well on my Ubuntu 22.04 Virtual Machine by installing it through the debian package. But it seems that after the application has started the whole operating system freezes.

If this relates to the fact that it was being used from within a virtual machine and this is not supposed to work because of some hardware related stuff then we can close this. But I just wanted to bring this up.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I've tested it on a few Linux distros myself before and had no issues. I can see if anyone else on Ubuntu has these issues, until I receive some more feedback I will leave this issue open.

What hypervisor are you using? Upon my testing on VMware Fusion, and VirtualBox, the application and virtual machine remains stable and responsive to use.

Ubuntu 22.04 Fusion Player 13, VirtualBox 7.0.10 Running under Intel Mac

My setup is almost the same. I am using VMWare Fusion Professional Version 13.5.0 (22583790) though. I don't know which hypervisor is used. I would just say the default one shipped with that version.

I'm unable to reproduce this on Fusion with Ubuntu 22.04 - perhaps you can try updating Fusion?

(and fyi, Fusion uses AppleHV as it's hypervisor 😉)

The kanri_0.6.1_amd64.AppImage application, after you make it executable, does not start at all. Nothing hangs, but refuses to start. :(

OS: Linux Mint (Debian) Release: 20.3 Codename: una

Sorry about these issues, they really shouldn't happen. Does the same happen if you use the .deb file? AppImages have caused quite a lot of trouble for me and since I don't have access to a Linux machine at the moment, I'm unable to debug these issues.

Alas, with kanri_0.6.1_amd64.deb is the same problem. The application is installed through the package manager, but when you try to start, nothing happens.

@patsuckow Hi there, can you provide more information about your environment? Are you also running it in a virtual machine? Or are you attempting run this on your computer?

If you can please also provide your hardware information, it may help us find what’s wrong.

trobonox commented 6 months ago

Tried running the latest Kanri version in a Ubuntu VM myself, with no issues at all. Some info on your hardware would be very useful, maybe then I could provide you with a debug build that would include some useful logs for me.

I launched on my computer with OS: Linux Mint (Debian) Release: 20.3 Codename: una. What other information is needed about my pc?
