A big portion of the searching people do around a programming language is to look for support. Most of D's support comes via the dlang forums. It doesn't typically get resolved on stackoverflow.com, which is, consequently, a disadvantage for marketability of a language and the appearance of D as a first tier language in people's minds.
Here are questions tagged with d: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/d .
The name D is short and hard to search on by itself. Dlang is better, but competes with K.D. Lang (artist). C has this issue, BTW with a single letter language.
This is still a problem in 2016. Most of the good information about D is tied up in the forums, often in deep posts many levels down in a forum thread.

7.50 or so. He hits the nail on the head. The searchability of Dlang is horrible on the Internets.
