Decided to vet this out since this actually got some votes.

I'll try building/using on windows to see if there are any gotchas with ldc2.

Bummer - no luck building on windows, but I filed a ticket: https://github.com/huntlabs/hunt-grpc/issues/1

Looks like they are investigating and it's actually an upstream issue on protobuf.
