There are a few articles around backing up and restoring that don't appear to be native and complex.
There is another another feature request around backup capability. That might help also but perhaps a lot more complex.
It appears that the current capability where people are not able to restore is because the password generated for the DB is random.
I wanted to suggest that the ability to set the password via the edit interface for the application, this might help to at least get it back to working if you have to reinstall and you have a backup of the data.
