I wondered whether bootstrapping an earlier version of pkg
might help.
With a preference for STABLE:
# pkg remove -f pkg
Checking integrity... done (0 conflicting)
Deinstallation has been requested for the following 1 packages (of 0 packages in the universe):
Installed packages to be REMOVED:
pkg-1.10.0_2
Number of packages to be removed: 1
The operation will free 11 MiB.

# pkg bootstrap

Should I simply allow
sudo pc-updatemanager pkgupdate -f
to run to completion, …
Done, and the symptom is no longer reproducible (below) but I'll leave this issue open – and retain the affected boot environment for a while. Just in case there's a shared wish to diagnose the exact cause of the errors.
$ sudo pc-updatemanager pkgcheck

The symptom has returned, I'm not aware of any interim interruption to an update routine:

An (accidental) interruption, during a download, is shown at line 664 of this file:
oops.txt
Since that interruption,
pc-updatemanager
is no longer able to check for updates. Chat at https://gitter.im/trueos/troubleshooting?at=58bbe527567b0fc8138f62c8 although it's one-way, I don't expect support on a Sunday for an obscure issue such as this :-)I experimented with a variety of workarounds including
pkg clean
and a restart of the OS but still, errors occur:I began then (quickly) intentionally aborted a forced routine –
– then again found the error with the check routine:
Should I simply allow
sudo pc-updatemanager pkgupdate -f
to run to completion, and then hope for the best; hope for check routines to work with the resulting boot environment?Or should we take this opportunity for diagnosis?
