Cannot hear the person being called #146

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load Siphon.
2. Dial a call on the virtual keypad or select caller from the Recents or
Contacts list.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Person being called can hear me; however, I cannot hear the person I
called. Handset speaker (not speaker-phone) produces no sound.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1st Gen. iPhone with firmware 2.2.1 (5H11). Siphon 2.0.3-1.

Please provide any additional information below.

Toggling speaker-phone on/off has no effect (still can't hear anything).

Issue seems to occur randomly. Usually re-launching Siphon multiple times
will resolve it.

Issue did not exist with iPhone firmware 2.2 and Siphona 2.0.2.

Siphon installed with Cydia.

the problem come from your firewall.modifiy your rules or access list in order
to
let sip packets come in your lan.
for Netscreen:
set policy id x from "Untrust" to "Trust" "Remote_addr" "local_addr" "SIP"
permit
log

After switching from an iPhone 2G to an iPhone 3G, it works perfectly.

Listen people,

I know it's not the answer you want to hear, but at some point you fucked up
Siphon; either by upgrading
and having old/bad config settings, or just upgrading can do it. That's the
reason why this issue never
occurs after a fresh install. You can either try and search through your
filesystem, deleting anything
resembling siphon, or restore and reinstall from scratch. Works every time.

Comment 52 is wrong, because most sip servers support nat transversal, or the
problem would go away
on different networks.

theshaze, I have only installed it once and I started having this issue right
away
in my first call. I researched further and found that I don't hear the other
party
only on 3g, over wifi it was working fine. I finally resolved it by turning off
NAT
and removing the STUN server (I'm on Gizmo and I initially set these params
because
I couldn't connect at all). So now it's working good on both 3g and wifi,
except for
the long periods of Gizmo down time when I either cannot connect or call.

So everybody who is with Gizmo, try to remove any extra config settings you
might
set except for username, password, and sip server and see if you will hear
initial
beeps and the other party in outbound calls. I usually have up to 8 seconds of
delay
after I place a call and before I hear the first beep.

This problem still persists. Running Siphon 2.2 on OS 3.0 on 2G iphone.

Audio always work when using headset. Audio may or may not work without headset
either in speaker mode, or speakerphone mode. Seems random.
