Setting properties in ~/.m2/settings.xml works also (and especially useful if your version of Eclipse does not seem to apply the plugin)

Hmm, thought this had worked but is not working in another Eclipse installation. Hold off on this PR while I sort it out.

I'm not sure this worked as the plugin is working for me, closing as I probably wont get around to testing this anytime soon, apologies.
