Dates

Monday 6th - Friday 10th October 2014. First sessions Monday afternoon at a sensible time for arrivals. Depart Friday morning. Option to arrive early / leave later to add a weekend at either side if wanted.

Costs

Freelance / self-funded: £250 non-vat. Company funded: £500 plus vat.

Those costs cover: 4 nights accommodation, drinks and snacks & contribution towards communal meals.

Venue

Sessions, communal meals, (house designed for 12-14), bedrooms for 6-9.

Travel

By car, or by train to either Skipton (from Leeds) or Settle (from Carlisle) train stations.

Facilities

Short walk to pub. Tesco & Sainsbury's both deliver so we can arrange for food & drink to be delivered to the house.

Broadband available at Pub and Stray's house (we may be able to negotiate having broadband installed at the house). Unreliable wifi at Stonelands. No 3G. Plan on being off-grid but with fairly regular opportunities to check-in.

What now?

Please respond to confirm your intention to attend, including whether you are self-funding or your employer is funding. I'd like to suggest a £100 non-returnable deposit paid next week so that we can book the house. Balance due by 31st July. Company attendees get 2 invoices - deposit for asap and balance for 31st July. Those who can't confirm until later than that will need to pay in full when they know they can come and we'll book the smaller cottages as the numbers grow.

I'm company funded but I can't confirm yet.

I'll chase the paper work. I can't foresee any problems but can't really confirm.

Not only can I not confirm anytime soon, the prospects of me attending are rather small overall. My fall is shaping up to be pretty busy, and it's quite likely that I'll be in the states for much of October. If not, I'll definitely try to make it happen.

I'll come, self funded. I take it that I should add VAT to the self-funded price because I don't have a freelance company thing, so it'll be £300?

@mnem I don't think you need to add VAT unless you are VAT registered. Which I doubt you are. Otherwise you are going to have to jump through hoops just to give the IRS that amount.

Exactly - basically I'll invoice with vat via my company for people who need a proper invoice, and I'll just treat as an expenses thing the people who aren't vat-reg'd, as I won't be paying vat on the accommodation. (The numbers in the govt coffers end up being the same in the end.)

Funky. A complete inability to parse and apply tax rules is just one of the many reasons I'd never run my own company :)

Ha! I can parse them but unfortunately there's sometimes a break point before I fill in the paperwork.

Those awaiting invoices / quotes - delay was gastric bug - grim but pretty much over now. Phew.

Sorry, while I'm very much hoping to come, I can't confirm at the moment. Lots of stuff to sort out first. It will be a few weeks until I can say yes or no.

Invoices / quotes should be with you now... sorry for my admin rubbishness.

I finally got confirmation that I'll definitely not be able to make it this year, as I have colliding obligations. I'm really bummed about not being able to attend, but hope (and am sure, really) that you'll have a grand time.

Ok, so it's probably about time I thought about trains. That's the easy part. Is anyone likely to arrive in the afternoon who wants to share a taxi from, um, Settle? I think it's Settle anyway.

I should probably start inventing a presentation too...

@mnem me and @angerelle will have a car so we might be able to help. I've not looked in to logistics and timings yet.

As for topics, I think I know what I want to talk about, but because I want your opinions not because I've much experience to share.
