failovermethod deprecation #170

Closed llohse closed 11 months ago

The repo configuration from http://lvserver.ugent.be/yum/xmi-repo-key-fedora.noarch.rpm still includes the failovermethod option, which apparently has not been used for quite a while [1].

As of today I am getting

Invalid configuration value: failovermethod=priority in /etc/yum.repos.d/xmi.repo; Configuration: OptionBinding with id "failovermethod" does not exist

with every dnf upgrade, which seems to be related to an increased verbosity with the latest dnf release [2]. I am running Fedora 34.

Will look into this. Strange that I never noticed this before.

I assume this doesn't actually make dnf fail?

No it's just a warning. Prior to the latest update of dnf it would have only been printed with dnf --verbose update. Ref [1] suggests that the option itself has not been used for a while with dnf (if ever).

These packages are now officially deprecated, as I will not be building any DEB and RPM packages going forward. I am currently still hosting the existing ones, but I expect to take these down in the not too distant future.
