Related to in-band routing hints, we should also mention that pub announcement messages solve the bootstrapping problem of finding a first (set of) peer(s) to connect to when rejoining the network.

Note (or question) to self: What are the analogue concepts in a log-native routing layer? Friends -> caching heuristic (even active caches that optimistically request data?), pub announcements -> routing table?
