@tsherwen Do you mind if I reduce the number of lat / lon ticks and colorbar points down by default?

This is set by the variable interval, which sets the ticks in units of 15 degrees. the default could be changed to 2 or provided as 2 in the call arguments. Could you try this and say if you think it is sufficient?
