This has nothing to do with ring-mqtt. This is an HA UI thing and has existed basically forever, although it was made much more visible with the changes to the alarm control panels dialog in the April 2023 release of HA. Basically, the HA dialog simply displays all modes that the given integration supports, and the MQTT Alarm Control Panel integration does support those modes, but Ring alarm does not. There is no method for me to inform the MQTT Alarm Control Panel what modes are explicitly supported.
If you want that ability feel free to file feature requests against Home Assistant, however, there are plenty of easy workarounds for this cosmetic issue in HA. For example, I never use the default controls, but the standard Alarm Entity Card works great and allows you to select which modes are displayed.
Ah that makes sense. I thought it was something that could be defined since the Alexa guard control panel only has 2 options. But if it’s mqtt that’s the issue that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for clarifying. I use the mushroom alarm card and it too gives the option to display what modes you want, but I accidentally went into the more info today and noticed this for the first time.
Yeah, I think technically it's a FR for MQTT Alarm Control Panel integration as it needs something similar to the MQTT HVAC integration's "modes" configuration option that allows defining the modes that a given thermostat supports, but the MQTT Alarm Control Panel integration has no equivalent configuration options at this time.
