CXXFLAGS mess on FreeBSD #10

Open RvdE opened 13 years ago

RvdE commented 13 years ago

The ports system on FreeBSD makes use of CXXFLAGS instead of CPPFLAGS. If you add CXXFLAGS=-I/usr/local/include boost detection will fail with the following error: checking for Boost headers version >= 1.34.0... yes checking for Boost's header version... BOOST_LIB_VERSION configure: error: invalid value: boost_major_version=BOOSTLIB

If I remove it again, evertyhing boost related works just fine, but other header files can't be found.

I can work around this by setting --with-boost=/usr/local, but true autodetection of the headers and libraries would ofcourse be better.

If this could be fixed in a future release that would be awesome.

Best regards,

Ralf van der Enden

tsuna commented 13 years ago

Hi Ralf, Thanks for the report. Could you please reproduce this issue and provide the contents of config.log?

Also, specifying an explicit path with --with-boost is probably a good idea for any distribution-endorsed package such as a FreeBSD port, because it increases predictability of the build.

RvdE commented 13 years ago
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by configure, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.64. Invocation command line was

  $ ./configure --with-modules=pipe --with-dynmodules=opendbx --sysconfdir=/usr/local/etc/pdns --without-pgsql --without-mysql --prefix=/usr/local --mandir=/usr/local/man --infodir=/usr/local/info/ --build=amd64-portbld-freebsd8.1
