SUGGESTION : Half Size Station Connectors #2748

Open LiquidzBot opened 4 years ago

LiquidzBot commented 4 years ago

Half size station connectors to help develop modular fighter ship design.

Currently doable with larger ships but a smaller block would allow the same with fighters etc

Current project that generated request : 5 chassis 5 wingsets 5 cockpits and 5 tails. Mix n match styles

think gundam loadouts..ditch the wings during combat and have a new set with specific loadout/mechanics latch-on or eject the nose/cockpit before dying and just re attach to another set.

Secondary request : Speed ramp launch for fighters from stations/ships (max weight capacity to limit OP)

Thanks for considering !

I'd throw on a related suggestion: double-sized connectors (or larger).

The current size is great, however I think they're more appropriate to something closer to the ISS than a Babylon 5 or Deep Space 9 or other larger space station of the future.

I'm thinking something along the lines of ... big enough for at least two players to walk through, side-by-side. Perhaps even large enough to drive a small hover vehicle through. Think "Death Star corridor" large.

I'd say just a single block that behaves like the existing connector blocks is all that's needed. Maybe in small and regular sized. Plus, I had experimented making a modular ship, but the spaceship block doesn't recognise thrusters that are on a connected section. Nor does power or shields seem to transfer across.

I went and made a set of space station junctions a few weeks back where the connector blocks only acted as maintenance tunnels and the actual walkway were built above them. I feel that having a connector block that acts as a doorway seems to break the freeform building style of the game.

Yes I want to add a smaller docking port, with no door. Not sure about the larger one though... Cheers
