[Suggestion] Addons/Modules for Thrusters, overpowering, and Addon changes #3483

Greetings, right now the way Thrusters gain more thrust is to simply add more Thruster blocks. At the moment this is not a problem because we are still in creative mode, and ship speed is not really something we worry a lot, but when survival finally becomes a thing, a lot of ships are going to be slower than intended only because they weren´t desing to accomodate multiple thrusters blocks along the surface.

This makes smaller ships way slower than some bigs ships that they should have no problem outrunning because of the difference in mass. This is specially true for lightcruise speed.

It is possible that some rebalance between mass of ship and thrust is in order, but i wanted to suggest 3 possible mechanics to help the problem

  1. Addons and modules for Thrusters, this will allow to get more buck out of smaller thrusters
  2. The ability to give more power over their allowed maximum to thrusters, in exchange for heat or even damaging the engines themselves.
  3. Instead of creating more surface for addons to be placed on weapons or thrusters, create a new interface that shows an internal box which have a minimun and a maximum size proportionate to the size of the weapon/thruster (allowing more addons for smaller weapons/thrusters and giving less to the biggest ones). This interface could be 3D to have all 3 axis to acomodate addons.
  4. Interactions between addons. Different addons could have interactions with each other, changing the behaviour of the system where they are placed. Or could have requirements in order to function.

Hi, hum I am not sure I agree with the initial assumption that smaller ship are slower. The mini thruster block pack a lot more power compared to the large one, and smaller ship have a bigger heat budget because of surface. Maybe between a 50m ship and 200m one, if the 200m uses only a single hull layer, but only because of this relatively lighter skin I would say. Do you guys noticed this?

I noticed by looking at the stats of different ships that varied in size, notice how bigger ships that weight way more have no problem keeping up or outrunning some of the smaller ships even though the latter dont have to move that much mass.
