Build is live. Thanks all, I still have to do the brick scale refactor. I will also likely swallow the bullet and nitch the old light tech to do the refactor too. Cheers
That was quick! I'm amazed at how fast blueprints load in this patch, it's lightyears quicker than before
Honestly I'm struggling to find too many issues, I'm sure others will have found more but this is super close to being perfect as far as I can see.
Just out of curiosity, do you think stickers will benefit from a performance increase with all these changes? I've noticed that since brick/block borders have been removed, players are using much more stickers to bring texture to their builds.
The bugs I've seen are the same as others have mentioned.
I have the same issue as Peach regarding invisible barrels. It affects the laser turrets on the Coyote and Caracal. The other builds I've checked seem fine except for paint, lighting and other reported bugs.
I have to say, builds spawn with the speed of lightning now and I love it!
The CEs on Hinge Bricks spawn correctly now and stickers paste as they should, so it is a huge win. There's a few minor issues remaining though:
White and metallic-painted light-emissive blocks and bricks are set to Rainbow Mode 😎
The light paint variants are way too washed-out and the dark paint variants are way too indifferent on light-emissive blocks, compared to the Experimental branch
Okay, sorry for bringing up that last one but it's been really bugging me for months now 😅
I tested some massive projects (e.g. the Super Star destroyer from the steam workshop, and one of my own projects) and there where two bugs - => but both of them where only the first time the case! After restarting and spawning in a new character, there were no problems but the games freezes after spawning for 10-15 sec, then the build appeared.
The Super Star Destroyer spawned semi transparent, you could see the stars and backround through it and the screen flickers. BUT if I wanted to take a screenshot (with the Windows snipping tool), you saw anything of the ship on it (?!) can't explain why. Furthermore after spawning, the planet-ring disappeared and the ship spawned in the empty space. If I tryto unspawn my own project, there remain artefacts in form of all the bricks which belong to children entities. The whole hull of my project is one children entity, if I unspwan, the hull remains and I can't delete or edit it.
Maybe its just because of the size, but I just wanted to tell you
EDIT:
Gonna post the problems I've detected:
1- these windows were supposed to be copper, not grey.
2- the inner lattice detail disappeared
3-the yellow/black stripes turned into yellow paint
4- rainbow rgb effect on every screen, light, button ( same as other players)
5- these grey areas was supposed to be copper
6- the road was loaded without major problems, but if you try to paint it, it's very glitchy and strange!
All the files are loading very fast! But after some time, and after loading several builds, everything starts to take more time, untill the game doesn't load anything else.
Also, the loading time is significantly smaller!
From minutes to seconds!
I recorded the loading time for the rainbow road. The difference is huge!
Awesome, the child entity issue is fixed on my Hierax fighter. The landing gear foot is in its correct position. Also very well done on the spawn in time. Spawning in large ships is like 90% faster so very impressed.
The landing gears on Hierax and Corvus still don't deploy correctly not sure if that's a bug or if collisions are working more as originally intended and I need to change how they work on my end so they don't get stuck.
