[New build - EXPERIMENTAL] 22w41a: Hotfixes #4954

Open tsunamayo opened 1 year ago

tsunamayo commented 1 year ago

Hotfix build with a new new logic for inventory item dragging.

Change: the logic to drag item from Codex and inventory has been updated following discussion with the community. You no longer have to hold the Left Mouse Button to drag the item, you simply need to click it. It is similar to what minecraft is doing. It will be easier to then right-click to drag a single item from the stack. To quickly transfer an item you now need to SHIFT-click instead of double clicking.

Bugfixes:

4950 Multi-shape dot visible on codex close on wrong item.

4944 Glow color incorrect for Light and Glow tiles

4949 RGB controller dont work on glow tile.

4946 Hose base not visible after unlink.

4948 Large brick count ship turn invisible.

4952 Weapon beam starting and end vfx incorrect location

4952 Weapon are un-equipped upon load

4953 Furnace cannot collect rocks

Build is up! There are a few major issues left, I have yet to find a reliable way to fix those. If anyone of you encounter a crash or freeze, please tell me and how you managed to do this! Once fixed I would like to push it into default. Cheers all!

I've noticed that when picking things from the Codex, drag-and-drop no longer works, and instead we have to click the object, and the click the toolbar slot to place it. Also, if a player replaced another object in the toolbar, they now have it on their cursor and have to click it away first before picking another object.

Hey, this is kind of awkward but regarding the #4944 I came around to really liking the new light formula for the tiles introduced in 22w39a. ^^

And I liked it so much, I would love to see its comeback.

I know this sounds like a fix reversion, especially since I was the one to report the issue, but please hear me out.

Sadly, I don't have any screenshots of glow tiles from 22w39a but I can describe them as properly vibrant and providing a linear, predictable color range outcome. Aside from a slight vignette in case of very dark hues, that formula was perfect.

However, when I started experimenting on the color values in today's hotfix (22w41a), not only was I unable to reproduce the very nice and vibrant hues back from 22w39a, but also I noticed an unexplicable tonal shift towards purples?? In a completely blue color without any reds?

Not to mention, I've never noticed this, but the new-old formula from 22w41a makes the colors bland and washed out:

@tsunamayo: thanks for the new build :-)

handheld weapons stuff now all good :-)

i do like the new click to select items instead of dragging - even though it does take some getting used to - which is funny, since it is now similar to Factorio, that i have played a lot of - but i have played so much of SEVO recently that i am now used to dragging lol :-)

i would say that i would recommend implementing at least one more things from Factorio in that regard (which may also be a Minecraft thing, since Factorio was inspired by a Minecraft mod - but i haven't played Minecraft for a long time and so can't remember)

i will add that as a suggestion in the main page

also i have been getting freezes - always to do with inventory - i think related to putting items into the inventory while stuff is flowing through the block

i will make a post and link 2 videos i made - 1 with the collector (showing that it is fine when not collecting but can quickly freeze when collecting), and 1 with the furnace (which is easy to get to freeze with the current bug, since you can just insert 8 rocks and it will endlessly expel silicon and so inserting rocks will get a freeze very quickly)

sorry to be having to report bugs :-(

but rest assured that it is because i love the game very much and want to help :-)

thanks for all the work - and i will now go and post those things (bugs first of course!)

also - i guess you are aware of inventory disappearing on reloads and in various situations

also - now i remember - i have another bug to do with the collector when it is trying to suck in lots of ore (the ore stays locked to the collector scoop, oscillating back and forth - and can even be dragged along when you move, but won't get moved to inventory - and the collecting sound will keep playing) - this one may well have been reported in Uncle-Ulty's big mining report - but maybe i will make a short video showing it and have it as its own bug report?

anyway - thanks for everything - your game is the best :-)

@DrizztCode Thanks, yes if you have a solid test case then dont hesitate to make a bug report, it is better for me to track issues. Thanks
