[Suggestion] Separate F1 settings between Survival and Creative #5615

Open asanagisae opened 4 months ago

asanagisae commented 4 months ago

Short Description of the issue:

I use the F1 settings "Activate fast move keys" and "Teleport to any ship" quite often in Creative. I usually have them "on", and I switch between several Creative worlds during my game sessions.

Whenever you load a Survival world, the next Creative world you load will "forget" these settings. It's quite odd. I expect to have fast move and teleport for all my Creative worlds at all times.

It seems these settings are saved to the game installation (or appdata), rather than saved to the world. I think it makes sense to have them "off" in Survival (by default), but it shouldn't affect them in my Creative worlds? Should there be a version of the setting for all Creative worlds, and a separate copy of the settings for all Survival worlds?

There might be other settings that behave similarly, but these are the ones I noticed.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Create/load a Creative world.
  2. Press F1. Set "activate fast move keys" to active and "teleport to any ship" to active. Confirm that they work.
  3. Exit the game.
  4. Create/load a Creative world. The previous world is fine.
  5. Confirm that the settings "activate fast move keys" and "teleport to any ship" are still active.
  6. Exit the game.
  7. Create/load a Survival world.
  8. Press F1. Notice that "activate fast move keys" and "teleport to any ship" are now inactive.
  9. Exit the game.
  10. Create/load a Creative world.
  11. Note that "activate fast move keys" and "teleport to any ship" are inactive.

I had a similar problem with the fuel tanks.

I had it set to: Store, but as soon as I exited and went back to the tank settings, the setting is gone.

the fuel tank thing is a little different - from what i can tell the fuel tank setting is always set to Reactors and Engines when you open the tank - i need to check if it actually applies the player setting at all - it probably does otherwise players would likely have mentioned it - which means it probably resets to default when the player opens the interface

Got it, thanks for the clarification.

A question related to the act of collecting liquids: Is it possible to extract water from the Habitats rings? Or just planets with water?

asanagisae commented 4 months ago

Last time I tried, I was unable to process water from ring worlds. If this is still a problem, could you open an issue for it with the appropriate details so Tsuna can track it? Thanks.

Aranhanauta commented 4 months ago

I will try, thanks for the sugestion.

sorry i missed the question - but i have not tried so would not be much help!

good luck in your investigation :-)

actually - i do have some constructive feedback

so i just flew to the habitat and built a platform with an electrolyzer and a fuel scoop

but i couldn't get it powered - because the habitat has no wind

so then i built a solar panel - and while that was happening and i was poking around in the inventories - suddenly i heard the noise that means your health is lowering

but i didn't hear it for a few moments since it is the same noise that happens in all sorts of other, non lethal situations

anyway, i suddenly noticed that i was suffocating - but luckily i managed to make it back into my ship with a tiny bit of life remaining (guess i shall be seeing if we can build a med bay in survival lol)

so - there is also no oxygen on the habitat

anyway - finally i got the solar panel connected and the electrolyzer lit up

but no water was collected

and when i checked the fuel scoop (after redoing the pipes and making sure it was fully submerged), it still said H2

so - from what i can tell - on the habitat:

so ironically it is entirely uninhabitable lol :-)

but it is still so very pretty :-)

that (not) water is beautiful :-)

Well... that explains a few things. Thank you for your comments. Well, I guess I won't be able to rely on Habitats to collect water.

To generate more oxygen I will have to resort to the planets.

But once again, thanks for your testing.

you may be able to refill at the space station - i am pretty sure that the life support tank will refill when in an oxygenated area - i will check now (had to dock to get some medical help after the suffocation incident lol) - i didn't scan myself though - if i die i shall restart - which i do in all games - but feels even more appropriate here - although it does at least have a lore friendly Battlestar Galactica Cylon style clone printer mechanism in place lol :-)

sadly no on the oxygen from the space station - it lets the player breathe outside - but won't refill the life support
