One, for the docking blocks: ensure the main entity is absolutely still. And two, for the maglocks... If they are on the entity you want to dock to another ship... then you have them on the wrong entity. Because they need to be on the ship you wanna dock to rather than on the ship you are trying to dock in the first place.

my small ship was completely still and the ship it was trying to dock to was still too- even after trying to dock my ship again it still doesn't dock properly.. it just says it's docking, then remains blue forever until the "locking procedure" is broken. but it doesn't even dock or lock together- it just stays hovering in place.
I do think the maglocks are misleading. They're an impound device more than an entity grabbing mechanism. The rigid, one-way parent/child function they have is problematic. Not technically a bug, but still behave strangely. Think of them as an immobilization tool.
@D345x0 Hi, thanks for booking a bug. I am not sure on how to reproduce, I dont have any issue on my side. Could you please record a video and / or send me your world so I can try to reproduce? Thanks
so I tried to dock my ship literally today and it turns out that it did work- but then the whole ass ship disappeared and then my whole ass ship got flung out of the planet I was just at.. and sadly I cannot record a clip mainly because the whole ass game crashes everytime I try and get a recording..
Explanation/summarization: Unity engine's Fault.
lemme just say it like this- the whole ass docking system in space engineers works seamlessly, however in this game it does not work seamlessly and is a pain in my ass to try and dock one thing to another.
also due to unity's barebone existence- Everytime I try and exit my small ship and it just always powers off A n d The thrusters, Then the whole small ship falls down and sinks into my capital ship/(hellcruiser) lol.
Conclusion:
Unity, (engine).
and yeah ik I hate it -if I sound super annoying for reporting these bugs but like What can you really expect from a engine that won't even allow you to exit your ship without it just powering off and falling out of the sky entirely..
and just when I thought I could use this game to replace egs (empyrion), only to realise this game has more flight problems and docking problems than egs
Which is fine because I just enjoy flying around in my bootleg SC aurora.
SO THE DOCKING WORKS
turns out all I had to do was put it to "free orientation" then lock the damned ship and it works like a charm.
I can also play this game on steamdeck Too so
10/10 so far
not even starfield has these seamless planetary flight mechanics
but the game needs alot of work that needs to be done
mainly optimization and bug fixes
that and actual npcs that randomly spawn (kind of like the ai in space engineers, that would be sick.)
I was literally on my hellcruiser for when I wanted to dock my ship on my hellcruiser using the docking pad/block- and even still, the whole docking procedure just doesn't occur- and instead my small ship is left "locking" in place to the docking block- however it isn't actually "docking" because I move my ship forward and the whole ass ship flies out of my hellcruiser..
and for the maglocks
well they just lock your entire capital ship in place IF you try and dock your ship using the maglocks..
Please fix these bugs for whenever you can.
(and yea I got some gtx 1660 ti- and I'm updated to the latest version.)
