In the issue #6065 there was talk about brick-built rings and habitats for the game. There was mention of a "habitat computer" that would generate terrain based on the ring the player built. Creative only.
Terrain Computer
The terrain computer could be available in survival too. In order to make terrain however, the player would need to supply a certain amout of oxygen, water, rock, and some ore to the computer in order to build the terrain. The larger the terrain, the more of those materials would need to be supplied. The computer would be able to make the cicular terrain needed for habitats, as discussed in #6065;
But it would also be able to make other shapes to allow players to add terrains to their stations or (if the tech will allow it) ships.
Players would be able to build O-Neill cylinders for example, a type a cylinder shaped space ship with internal terrain. Or the ring shaped terrains for rings, or artifical "planets" Players could build ships that have internal gardens and "ecosystems"
The terrain computer could make either flat planes, or curved planes. Disks, rings, squares, triangles etc, depending on the settings the player set in the GUI of the brick.
Material cost would scale with the size of the terrain.
Placable plants and natural blocks:
Perhaps something that could be added ealier: Terrain blocks. Placable dirt, water, rock, trees, grass, bushes. Something to spice-up existing ships with internal gardens. The foilage models are already in game, making them accesible using another part in the codex would be lovely. That way we wouldnt need to build trees anymore, saving many bricks, while adding flaire and greenery to our ships and stations. Similar to other bricks, trees, bushes and plants could be scaled to 16m. So 16m tall trees for example. Or taller trees for things such as Redwood and Jungle foilage. Plants could be colored like regular bricks can be now.
Obviously, this is something that has little priority for now, as the code for terrain gen will need to be expanded to allow this (tsuna himsellf said so, but its on the to-do list) In the long term, this kind of system of gameplay mechanic could allow for large colony ships, or stations that are more interesting and exiting for others to visit and experience. I added pictures to visualize the suggestion.
