imo a docking connector should do a check if it's front is clear of any obstruction that are part of it's ship (in this case the golden blocks (both the root and child entities of the ship)
main uses:
preventing docking connectors that cannot physically be connected to, from being picked up by the can dock system
ability to block docking connectors, which could help when dealing with lot of docking connectors in a smaller area or temporarily making a ship undockable
