The PlayStation 3 browser is supposed to popup the on-screen keyboard when you select a text box. However with Browservice, it's a pain to even get it to select the address bar, and it's impossible to type anything. I also tested with a USB keyboard, and it just ignores the keypresses. I might look into it further and see what specifically causes this, but I thought I'd open an issue anyway until I get around to it.
