Please give a precise description of the problem and steps to reproduce it.
Although I selected the option to not show the adthwart icon in the address 
bar, when I start chrome for the first time (after a restart or a shutdown of 
the computer) it reappears and the extension's option has been changed back to 
show icon.

At which URL is this problem observed?
Homepage on startup.

Which versions of AdThwart, Chrome and Windows/MacOS/Linux?
Adthwart 1.0.12; Chrome 7.0.517.41 beta; Windows Vista.

Which filter lists are you subscribed to? Any custom filters?
annoying_addiv and ad_class

In AdThwart Options, which "General" options are checked?
This is the issue. I like to keep all checked except the show icon, but it 
re-checks itself upon restart of chrome.

Please provide any additional information below.

This sounds like the AdThwart settings are being erased every time you restart 
Chrome. Not sure why this is happening - AdThwart doesn't contain code to reset 
itself. If you select another filter list or add a custom filter, are those 
preserved? Do your other extensions retain their settings?

Sorry,I'm just finding my way back here because the problem's continuing. 

I haven't changed any other features with Adthwart so I don't know if those 
also reset, but my other extensions do retain their settings.

Still getting it every time I restart Chrome, only for this extension.

Hm, still not sure what's going on here. Is there any output in the window you 
find by going to:

Wrench -> Tools -> Extensions -> Developer mode -> (AdThwart) background.html 
-> Console
