This is a quirky bit of behaviour which seems to have appeared in Yosemite, on 2.2b (111).
When scrolling through a list of notes resulting from a search, or just scrolling from the top, once the cursor is moved to the body of note, the note list window "jumps" down, auto scrolls down, by one unit. This occurs even when the focused item in the list is near the top and middle of the list. This disconcerting UI behaviour causes the item at the top of the list to become effectively hidden, which is especially disconcerting as scrollbars are not visible and it becomes easy to lose track of the fact that there is one additional note that has popped off the top of the screen.
Also note, this odd behaviour exhibits whether or not the "Use nvALT scrollbars" option is selected.
