Syncing with Simplenote freezes app and computer #341

When I enter in the information to sync with Simplenote, a few moments later the entire app freezes and the rest of the computer runs choppy until I force quit NVAlt. When I re-open the app, it has lost my Simplenote information. I can reproduce this over and over by re-entering my Simplenote log-in.

I am running OS X 10.10.3. I have no issues syncing with Simplenote on my iOS devices (iPhone 5s and iPad Air) using other apps, so this is definitely an NVAlt issue. This has been pretty inconvenient because I have used NVAlt for years and suddenly only being able to sync Simplenote on my iOS devices has wrecked my whole system of organizing/accessing information. I'll provide whatever info I can to help fix this. FWIW, the issue started when I downloaded the newest version of NVAlt to this computer because this computer was new. My old Macbook Pro running the most recent OS X and an older version of NVAlt worked fine, iirc.

If there are any special characters or something that might be freezing the app, I am willing to look through my Simplenote account for those characters and see if removing them helps.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I'm on OS X 10.10.4. Also happy to provide whatever information I can to help solve the problem.

The behavior seems to be linked to a memory leak. I can have nvALT running fine in the background for any length of time. When I turn on syncing, after a few moments, the memory usage shoots up to 5, 10, 15, ... GB. However, I should say I think the behavior is not specific to nvALT -- I switched back to Notational Velocity to check this and observed the same thing.

I'm experiencing the same on 10.11.5. Also experiencing it in Notational Velocity so it's something in code common to the two apps. Would be a lifesaver if anyone can crack this nut (bounty?!) as the Simplenote app pales by comparison from a usability perspective. Thanks!
