Typing crawls slower & slower as note size goes up #435

Using NVAlt on Sierra, performance is currently excruciating for me: the longer the note, the bigger the lag between my key press and the character appearing on screen. For notes longer than 1000 words, it's hard to use. For 2000+ words, it's multiple seconds per character appearing. Augh!

Here's a screencast showing how slowly the characters appear when I'm typing at full speed (90wpm+): http://take.ms/i8mrA

@benwikler I was noticing the same and thing and found this issue when searching for bug reports.

Your post inadvertently helped me track down the problem... try disabling the word count feature (View menu > Show Word Count) and see if you get a performance increase. This helps even for notes with 5,000+ words.

The app is still slow when launching and searching, and when loading these larger notes, but that's not as disruptive as a lack of responsiveness while trying to type.

Noticed this issue when editing a note with 10,000+ words. Disabling word count seems to have done the trick.
