NValt crashes repeatedly, now will not open (after note import) #533

I have used NValt for years as my default note-taking app, using Simplenote to sync across my work comp, iPhone, and laptop. A few years ago I bulk-exported about 100 notes that pertained to a project I was no longer working on, and saved them as .txt files in a folder with all the other materials related to that project. I had deleted them just to clear up some space in the NValt memory.

Recently I started on the project again, so reimported those notes by dragging and dropping. They seemed to import fine, but as I was going through renaming them (adding a prefix to the note title so that they would be grouped by project) NValt suddenly froze. I waited for about 15 minutes and it did not un-freeze, so I Force Quit the program, re-opened and tried again. After numerous tries it became clear that there was one note that any time I tried to click on it, NValt would immediately freeze, and stay frozen. This happened a half-dozen times, then I restarted my computer and tried again, with the same results. Then the past couple of times I have attempted to open the program I haven't even been able to run it. I click the icon and NValt opens, then freezes before the window even comes up. Assuming the file was corrupted somehow, I had the idea to go into Simplenote on my iphone and delete the note from there, whichI was able to do without difficulty, but now I am still unable to even open NValt.

I'm running OS El Capitain 10.11.6 on my desktop, which is where I am having the problem. Haven't had a chance to check it on my laptop yet. Any suggestions besides deleting NValt and reinstalling, then hoping on sync it doesn't just happen all over again?

Hi, I had the same. Do you synchronise nvalt with simplenotes? On my side I have to desactivate the sync if I don't have internet to prevent it from crashing...
