Addition of additional links via GNI indices #53

Which section of the data portal this requests refers to?

Species Summaries

Could you describe in detail the suggested enhancement?

I would like to suggest we consider simple additions to the data portal display
that include basic indexes of external content
that could be easily accessed using the Global Names Index portal that was
jointly developed (GBIF and EOL).

Among the priorities:

Linking to species pages within other data portals within the GBIF network.

For example - the EWT provides a nice species summary page on a range of
species.
Buphagus africanus https://www.ewt.org.za/species_oxpeckers.aspx

NLBIF has rich species pages for a wide range of species

We need to use the portal to promote the visibility of members. This is a
simple mechanism to do it.

The GNI would provide the means to link to other relevant targets as well. It
would allow us to fast-track the linkages to GNA
providers from within our CURRENT portal while we work out how to integrate the
new Names portal indices.

Secondarily, we should consider using the GNI indexes to enable quick
cross-linking to other useful datasets. I would include

BarCode of Life Database
NCBI taxonomy Indexes
Flickr images (to display thumbnails) - less a priority
Wikipedia (species pages only but I would favor a simple approach for embedding

Publications - Note NLBIF uses the system I developed in 2005
http://www.nlbif.nl/species_details.php?tab=4&name=Sterna+albifrons

Could you provide us with an URL of the page that should include the
enhancement?

Pick any species page.

Any other comments?
