Similar issue on an LG 39LN5300. Chromecast is not detected as a Simplink
device resulting in CEC control functions not working properly.

Similar issue with LG LM7600 47". TV input shows "Simplink" under the
chromecast, and will successfully change inputs, but fails to turn the TV on.
The Chromecast is plugged into an outlet, not the TV's USB.

What is interesting is that on the LG LA6200 I have no problem switching
inputs. The only problem on the LA6200 that I have is the Chromecast is not
turning the TV ON. In fact the TV has 3 HDMI inputs so I hooked all 3 of the
Chromecasts that I have and I'm able to switch to each Chromecast by casting a
YouTube Video to each one. So the switching part at least on the LA6200 is
working perfectly. I also made sure the TV was updated to all the latest
versions of firmware when I got it, so I don't know if that has anything to do
with it.
Also the Chromecast got updated to 12840 firmware with no difference in
results. Still I'm not able to turn on the TV, but switching still works.

I just got my Chromecast and hooked it up today. I'm having a similar issue
with a LG TV although it is reversed. My Chromecast turns my TV on but does not
switch the input. I know the Simple Link works because when I turn on my LG
Blu-ray player it turns on the TV on and switches to the correct input.

I too faced the same issue in my LG47LM6200. I was not able to switch on the TV
using the youtube or netflix app from the mobile. But the input mode in the TC
shows as Simplink.
Was very happy, when i came across the below from google
Manufacturers often call CEC by different names, including Anynet+ (Samsung),
Aquos Link (Sharp), BRAVIA Link and BRAVIA Sync (Sony), HDMI-CEC (Hitachi),
CE-Link and Regza Link (Toshiba), SimpLink (LG), HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync, VIERA
Link (Panasonic), EasyLink (Philips), and NetCommand for HDMI (Mitsubishi).
WIll wait for a resolution on this one.

I have an LG 55GA6400 and it doesn't seem to work at all as a SimpLink device.
The input doesn't change, the TV doesn't turn on. I have the ChromeCast
externally powered via USB and a wall wart, but nothing happens when I connect
to my ChromeCast via Netflix or Chrome.

To everyone:
Make sure Simplink is turned on your LG TV. LG ship their TVs with Simplink
turned OFF by default. Go to your Input screen of your LG TV and you should see
the HDMI inputs that have Chromecast plugged in should be identified as
Simplink. If they are not, then your TV's Simplink is NOT turned on.

I have a LG 47LA6200 and I have the same issue. I have tried to connect the
chromecast from HDMI ARC, HDMI MLH and the Normal HDMI port and non of them are
turning the TV on. It can swithc the inputs properly when I strem something if
the TV On.
I have checked the ARC properties is in under audio settings and also I have
checked from inputs the simplelinks settings is active and able to turn on the
TV.
BTW, Does anyone could power the chromecast with rhe HDMI 1.4 (ARC) port of the
LG TV without the external power?
I have tried with an old Samsung Plasma and a Sony Bravia LCD tv and for both
of them the ON function is working.

To #12, I don't think the Chromecast can be powered via just the HDMI port. It
needs either a USB port or external power.
I assume when you say that you tried it with a Sony Bravia and Samsung Plasma
that the ON power worked, you must mean that the Chromecast was able to power
on the TV, right? I assume you used external power to chromecast in those cases
too.
I think the issue is with the protocol that LG is using with the HDMI-CEC
implementation. In other words the Chromecast sends the right signals for the
TV to turn on but LG's implementation is different enough to not mean the same
thing that it means to Samsung and Sony. If supporting LG's implementation
breaks all the others, Google will never implement it. Maybe they can add a
flag specific for LG that you can set from the Chromecast setup app. But then
you make the installation a bit harder for the novice user. I think it would be
better if LG fixed their own implementation with an update to their Smart TVs
to be more consistent with the HDMI-CEC standard like Samsung and Sony and
possibly others.

to #13 Yes I meant that, in both cases It was requiered to power it with
external usb source for the Sony and Samsung TVs and it was capable to turn the
TV on and switch to to the right input.
What I have understood is that the chromecast can be electrical feed by the
HDMI data feedback pings if the TV HDMI version of the is 1.4, in the google
presentation they were have it connected to a samsumg smart TV and the camara
show it ON without an external power source.
Yes, I guess you are right, but at less google should inform in the
troubleshoot page about this issue or non proper compability with LG tvs.
Anyway, I am happy with the chromecast and is much easier and quick that use
the smart TV functions, my comment is just to help to the community due it was
hard to find information related to this issue.

Apparently LG misrepresented the capabilities of the 55GA6400, it does not
have HDMI CEC/SimpLink. It's not a problem with the Chromecast, but with LG
and their misleading marketing.

#15, All of the LG smart TVs have SimpLink. That includes the 55GA6400. But to
turn it SimpLink ON you have to go to the Input screen rather than settings.

Since this SmartTV has Google TV and Google TV has a different interface, maybe
it is in a different location. Try all the settings options.

There is not a TV in the last 3 years that does not have it. And since it is in
the specs it is there. Maybe you should call LG's product support and ask them.

Same problem with TOSHIBA 40S51U TV - Chromecast will not turn TV power ON
(except for the 15 seconds or so after power the TV has been turned OFF and the
power light shows RED when it will turn it back on, otherwise once the TV goes
to standby, Chromecast will not turn it on). Toshiba calls the feature
HDMI-CEC. It's enabled. It works with the Sony BluRay player that's connected
to the TV. Chromecast is powered externally.
It does switch the input to the Chromecast if the TV is powered on and casting
started when tv is on a different input.

I have an LG 32LE3300 with simplink(old vers, not smart tv) I can start the tv
from the cromecast (pluged in the wall) with simplink on, but it doesn't change
to the needed input. The only time I managed to make it change the input, with
the chromecast in HDMI1 port, power from the wall, I reset the chromecast to
factory settings when it booted I received a mesage from simplink that is
chaging to the simplink device and that was pretty much it, after that still
noyt changing input

Similar problems with my LG 37LH7000.
Chromecast is connected to external power (not USB) and SimplLink is turned on
in the TV Settings, however when I press the SimpLink button on my remote it
says 'No SimpLink Device'. Starting a cast does turn on my TV (at least from
Chrome browser, YouTube & Play Movies Android apps - not tested others) but it
never switches to the correct input. It's clear via this thread that for some
people the auto-power doesn't work, and for some like me it's the auto-imput
selection that doesn't work. It seems to me like it is LG's implementation of
HDMI-CEC that is the main problem, as LG themselves says that it only
officially works with SimpLink branded products. Hopefully Google could reach
out to LG in order to bring about a (software update) fix?

I'm the original poster of the issue, and starting with firmware 14975 or
14651, my chromecast is now able to turn the TV on (couldn't before) and change
to the correct channel like before (changing the channel was never a problem).
My TV is an LG 47LA6200. I can't tell which one fixed the turning on the TV
issue because 14975 version updated quickly after the 14651 so by the time I
noticed the difference the version was already 14975. The setup is exactly the
same as the #1 post above.
