Is there some license info/terms of use available for this maps? Because in the browser, I see Google maps terms of use in the bottom right corner which prohibit a use of the tiles without Google API...

That is strange, as far as CalTopo is not Google Maps. But I'm going to ask CalTopo's support to clarify.

The short answer I got from the support team is no, they don't want their map tiles to be used by third-party applications, because generating MapBuilder tiles takes a significant amount of server resources. And they pointed to some free alternatives, such as USGS, USFS maps.
