If Certell doesn't specifically care about the (self-reported and therefore not reliable) user name, could we not just ditch the reg page and instead generate a UUID for each user and submit that to xAPI?
The one potential pitfall I can see for this is if teachers ever want to be able to collect data associated with specific users, but we could work around that with an activity at the beginning of the course where the user submits name and whatever other info, which would then become associated with their UUID upon submission to the LRS.
