What is the problem you're trying to solve with this change?

The quality of gameplay will be improved.

What do you propose as a solution?

(all suggestions are 1.7.10 mods)

1.) There is a mod, named "KleeSlabs". It allows you to just mine the slab you are looking at. It is helpful for people who build large structures. Link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/kleeslabs

2.) IronBackpacks adds backpacks. Sacks exist, however it is difficult to obtain them. IronBackpacks is configurable and you can craft the backpack item. The backpack is customizable in-game for things like replacing tools and picking up items. It would be helpful for players who are moving to another place across the map. I definitely like the idea of KleeSlabs, and I'll check that out for a future update.

I've deliberately omitted any mods like IronBackpacks in favor of the LOTR mod's pouches (for which I did add a recipe). You'll find that it's not terribly uncommon to receive them from quests, or find them in chests as well. In addition, Thaumcraft adds serveral ways to extend your inventory (Ender Rift focus, item mirrors, traveling trunks, etc.). I don't see a compelling need to add something which duplicates that functionality.
