Maps offline not working #2

Open carmenfdezb opened 9 years ago

I use 'Spain' in map package, but the option 'Vector (no internet required) is not working: when I select this option, change to 'OSM (Internet required)' option automatically.

I built map package from Spain osm data and it did work as it should. What map package do you use? Thank you for reporting.

carmenfdezb commented 9 years ago

I downloaded map package from Spain on this link some months ago: http://wiki.maemo.org/ModRana_offline_routing_guide#Enable_offline_routing_in_6_easy_steps. These maps packages, are they compatibles with monav?

Hi, I'm the maintainer of that global Monav offline routing data repository (http://data.modrana.org/monav). If there were no routing data format changes for the Sailfish port of Monav, then I think it should work.

But note that the repository currently has only routing data and not the other types of data the Monav preprocessor can create (no address database, no tiles, no vector map data). This is basically because the primary user of the repository, the modRana flexible navigation system uses the Monav routing server for routing, which uses only the routing data and unfortunately can't use the other data types.

@carmenfdezb can you try this maps https://nokius.net/stuff/monav-maps/ can report if they not work for you

carmenfdezb commented 9 years ago

Thank you very much, M4rtinK. Then, will we never have full offline maps for SailfishOS? Thank you Nokius, your maps work fine in monav, but I need Internet conexion to see the maps.

@carmenfdezb Just the global routing data is ~120 GB, with all the other data types (address data & the vector map data) it would probably be much more. Also modRana still makes use of only the routing data at the moment & the software used for generating the repository currently only generates the routing data and would have to be modified. So it might be possible but it is really not a priority for me at the moment - at least until modRana can also make use of the additional data types. :)

That might change though... ;-)

Ok, thank you for your answer, M4rtinK. I use modrana too, and I like it very much.

@carmenfdezb Thanks, nice to hear that! :)
