ANDRE BLASZCZYNSKI
Born in Krakow, Poland in 1952. Emigrated to US in 1962. Naturalized US Citizen in 1967.
Education: MBA, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. MA in Economics, University of Connecticut.
Professional Experience: Professor of Business and Economics. Thirty years of experience teaching at the collegiate level, 5 years at Central Connecticut State University and 24 years at Tunxis Community College. Served as Department Chair at Tunxis CC (1998-2000 and 2007-2009) and Acting Dean of Learning at Gateway Community College (2000-2002). Spent a year in Poland (1990-91) on Rockefeller Brothers Fund and UN Development Program contracts, teaching, consulting, and as Program Director of the Polish American Business School in Krakow, Poland. Conducted a study of internal transfer prices and developed an intra-enterprise tansfer pricing system for a major automobile producer. Consulted for several private firms and large state enterprises on a diverse range of issues problems including sales force training, organizational structure, business and marketing strategy, and management control systems. Designed and conducted management training programs (1990-96).
Management consultant, employed by two management consulting firms. Performed market analysis, political and economic environment analysis, and strategic planning analysis. Conducted extensive Delphi interviews with experts, senior bank officers, and government officials throughout the United States, Europe and Africa for a major multinational bank client. Participated in strategic planning sessions with top management. Designed and implemented management operating control systems. Conducted comprehensive operations audits. Identified operating problems and recommended solutions to improve quality control, production planning, employee safety and other areas. Trained supervisory personnel in the effective use of management control methods.
Community Service. Thirty years of service in executive leadership positions for several volunteer community organizations. Founding member and President of Solidarity International of Connecticut (1982), and the Polish American Foundation of Connecticut (1996-present). Co-founder of the Conference of Solidarity Support Organizations - (CSSO), an international association of over 45 Solidarity supporting organizations in 14 countries on 5 continents. Served as Moderator of the CSSO from inception to its dissolution in 1990. Contributed to the establishing the Legal Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (later renamed Connecticut Immigrant and Refugee Coalition), and its annual Immigrant Day celebration. Member of the National Polish American-Jewish American Council (2000 to 2004). Participated in a White House meeting as part of President Clinton’s “One America” initiative. Awarded the Cavallier’s Cross “Order of Merit” (Krzyż Kawalerski Orderu Zasługi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej) by the President of the Republic of Poland in 1999 for contributions in the campaign for Poland’s accession to NATO. Awarded the Comander’s Cross “Order of Merit” (Krzyż Komandorski Orderu Zasługi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej) by the President of the Republic of Poland in 2009 for contributing to the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty (through work in support of the Solidarity Trade Union).
Publications & Lectures: Authored the Glossary - Słownik Pojęć Ekonomicznych, (an encyclopedic English-Polish dictionary and glossary of economic concepts), published in January 1993 by Central Connecticut State University and the Wrocław Technical University (Politechnika Wrocławska, Wrocław, Poland) under a United States Agency for International Development project. A third edition was published by the Jagiellonian University School of Management and “Atlant” company in 1995.
