SIMCOM 908 & Arduino Mega 1280: SMS works but internet connection doesn't #74

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Arduino IDE 1.03, Mega 1280 board, 305 library version, open-electronics 
shield
2. Using serial hardware, with jumper connections from pins 18-19 of Arduino 
board to the shield

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am able to send text messages but internet connection doesn't work at all.

Can you be more datailed about "internet connection doesn't work at all"?

It's completely unable to attach, weirdly. With Arduino Uno everything works 
flawlessly while with Arduino Mega and proper serial communication, SMS sending 
works but internet connection doesn't.
