Lock log_switch to ~> 0.3.0, spec updates, style cleanup #162

Initial impetus for the changes were to merge in the log_switch fixes. Lots of tests were broken from previous changes--fixed those. Also updated specs to follow RSpec 3 style. Also cleaned up some style stuff.
