Organised by the Clinical AI Interest Group, we are holding two open towns halls for anyone working in or related to the NHS to come and talk to us about Clinical AI Skills needs. Tell us about the AI upskilling needs of the NHS workforce, how you think this can be tackled and tell us about any current work you are doing in this area. How big a problem is AI upskilling in the NHS? And what can we do to fill in the skills gap? We are launching a new MRes in Advanced Artificial Intelligence at University of Sussex. This is a new, specially designed Masters course targeted at students interested in pursuing a career in AI research and development and goes beyond basic principles. It offers research-focused training that will equip students with the skills and knowledge for doctoral study, and industrial AI research or engineering roles. Students will explore: cutting-edge machine learning and bio-inspired AI techniques how AI can be applied in a range of contexts, and the potential of implications of this AI research and scientific communication skills A research project on a topic of their choice will give them the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and understanding. At Sussex, they will learn from experts with an established history and reputation in AI. We have recently created Sussex AI, a Centre of Excellence, based in the Department of Informatics and led by members of the AI research group. All relevant details are on the course webpage. Organisations act as DSG challenge owners to provide real-world problems and datasets that the successful applicants tackle by brainstorming and engineering solutions, presenting their work at the end of the event.
